Making car-sharing a carbon-sharing service | Grist

Interesting concept. Most cars are idle 94% of the time so it does make a lot of sense, it's great when you visit a new city and just can pick up a car outside your hotel, go for dinner or a meeting and then drive it back before the owner needs it.
However we're not all living in a fixed time world and sometimes you might need to rush to the hospital or some urgent last minute meeting and it might not work if your car is used by someone else since you had allocated that time for others. But if many people are in this program you could probably just take another car.
I could see this working fine with an iPhone application where you can easily see the nearest available car based on the time you need it between. The whole booking thing could be simple if done correctly (not sure how it's done now)

El beneficio esta en el uso, no en la propiedad. Un concepto interesante para disminuir el numero de autos comprados.
